Yvonne Craig (1937–2015) was an American actress and ballet dancer best known for playing Batgirl in the 1960s Batman TV series. Born in Illinois and raised in Ohio, she trained as a ballerina before transitioning to acting. Early roles included Gidget (1959) and It Happened at the World’s Fair (1963) with Elvis Presley.

Her breakthrough came in 1967 as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, making her one of TV’s first female superheroes. Performing many of her own stunts, Craig helped redefine women’s roles in action shows, inspiring many young viewers.

She also appeared in popular series such as Star Trek, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and The Wild Wild West. Though never a leading lady, her memorable guest appearances earned her a loyal fan base and lasting impact on television.
