One childhood story that has been told for generations is the three little pigs. One of the pigs built his house out of sticks and one built its house out of bricks. The third built his house out of straw.

Rob Brian, who lives in Oklahoma and is a retired oil industry worker decided to take a page out of the third pig’s book and build his house out of straw. More specifically, he built a 4000-square-foot home constructed mainly from straw bales and natural elements.

For about 25 years, Rob was in Alaska and taking part in the oil industry. He saved for the future and after he retired, he moved to Oklahoma. He decided to use his experience and buy a farm.

As it turns out, he was able to leverage his savings that he worked so hard to acquire and the materials on his farm to make a building that is quite a testament to his abilities. He was able to do the journey without any debt and that is impressive.

The 4000 square-foot home sits on a hill with two barns, one is 30 feet long and the other 50 feet long. They were connected, showing that he has a lot of skill in doing this.

He also had a vision, and he showed it in the construction of his house. He decided to use natural materials, including cedarwood from the farm to create the structure. He also knew that straw bales were great for insulating and he used them to form the walls.

After building the home from cedarwood and straw bales, he used stucco to provide a durable finish on the exterior. It makes the house well-suited for the intense weather conditions that can sometimes occur in Oklahoma, including heavy rain and tornadoes.

Rob is not only somebody who built something unique, he also is someone who has an understanding of sustainable building practices. You can see his craftsmanship shining through and even though his neighbors thought he was crazy, he showed them just how sane he actually was.

Rob is hoping that his home will be an inspiration to those who are younger. One thing is certain, no skeptics remain after seeing exactly what he constructed.
