It is always sad to report on the death of someone, especially when they are known and loved by millions. That is why, it is with heavy hearts, that we are reporting on the death of Richard Simmons.
Richard Simmons is a fitness guru who was known for inspiring millions of people and helping them to lose weight and pursue a healthier lifestyle. Unfortunately, he was found dead at his home recently at the age of 76.
When the fitness guru was found dead in his home by his housekeeper on Saturday, July 13, there were some questions regarding the manner of death. It was looked into by the LAPD and, after further investigation, it was discerned that there was no foul play involved.
According to reports from sources close to Simmons, he had fallen in his bathroom on Friday night. His housekeeper has asked him to get medical treatment but he refused.
Simmons said that he felt dizzy after the fall but that he might go to the doctor in the morning. He was helped into his bed by the housekeeper and she found his unresponsive body on the floor next to the bed in the morning.
His brother Lenny spoke about Simmons’ death, saying that it was better to celebrate his life rather than mourn his death. He said:
“I don’t want people to be sad about my brother. I want them to remember him for the genuine joy and love he brought to people’s lives. He truly cared about people. He called, wrote and emailed thousands of people throughout his career to offer help.”
“So don’t be sad. Celebrate his life.”
Simmons had stayed out of the spotlight for a number of years prior to his death. This fueled speculation on the part of his fans, with some saying he was being held hostage in his home.
Just a few days prior to his passing, he gave an interview in which he said: “I feel good! I am grateful that I’m here, that I am alive for another day. I’ll spend my birthday doing what I do every day, which is to help people.”
May he rest in peace.
