There are many familiar faces in Hollywood but Haley Joel Osment is one that almost everyone remembers. As a child actor, he performed in the top movies of the day, including The Sixth Sense and Forrest Gump.
As he got older, his career went downhill but he continued to be a familiar face. In the 2000’s, he had some voice acting roles but it almost appeared as if he was disappearing quickly from the limelight.
Most of us have become accustomed to seeing child actors grow older. When Osment first appeared on the silver screen, he had an innocence that was easy to see from the first glance. He also had a fantastic ability to display emotions on the screen at a young age.
When he was only four years old, somebody saw him at IKEA and thought he would do well in commercials so he did a commercial for Pizza Hut in 1993. Tahat got the attention of the director for Forrest Gump. He and Tom Hanks did well together.
Just a few years later in 1997, he was still appearing in film and on TV. Since there were some changes from what you saw at a younger age, as he started developing new features as he grew older.
In 1999, he appeared in The Sixth Sense and at that point, he became recognizable by people around the world. Who could forget his line, “I see dead people.”
He still continued to work in the film industry over the years, but much of it was voice work. He was arrested in 2006 for drunk driving and his mug shot showed just how much he had aged.
These days, he is hardly recognizable because of his beard and he tries to stay out of the spotlight as much as possible. In his estimation, it is fine that he is unrecognizable because it gives him an opportunity to transform into something new.
We hope to see him much more as the future unfolds.
