The Menai-Davis family’s world shattered in September 2021 when their 6-year-old son, Hugh, passed away from rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer. After six months of treatment, Hugh was briefly declared cancer-free in May, joyfully ringing the hospital bell.

But the celebration didn’t last. Months later, a swollen stomach—first thought to be a virus—signaled the cancer’s return. Despite more treatment, Hugh’s condition worsened, and he passed away just three months after remission.

Through it all, Hugh remained brave and smiling, while his parents, Frances and Ceri, showed him only love. Now, in his memory, they’ve launched the charityIt’s Never You, which supports families of children with cancer. They urge other parents to trust their instincts and seek help early—because sometimes, even small signs mean everything.
