The iconic Queen of Country, Dolly Parton, is back with her latest album, Rockstar. This incredible album features a star-studded lineup of A-list singers and songwriters, including Elton John, Debbie Harry, and Sting, to name just a few. With over 30 songs, including nine original tracks, fans are eagerly anticipating the chance to see Dolly Parton on tour.
However, Dolly has recently confirmed that she will no longer be embarking on tours. In a recent interview with Good Housekeeping to promote her new album and book, Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones, Dolly shared the main reason behind her decision to retire from touring.
With a laugh, Dolly explained, “I don’t tour anymore. I’m involved in so many business ventures, and as my husband and I are getting older (he’s a little older than me), I feel the need to be with him.” It’s clear that spending quality time with her beloved husband is a top priority for Dolly.
Dolly also acknowledged the significant commitment required to put together a tour, regardless of age. “Touring requires unwavering commitment, and I dedicated myself to it throughout my entire life,” she said.
But don’t despair just yet. Dolly reassured fans that she is open to performing the songs from her album alongside other artists for special events like award shows or television specials. So, even if we can’t attend a Dolly Parton concert, we can still enjoy her captivating performances in different formats.
In a heartwarming statement, Dolly made it clear that she has no plans to retire completely. “Unless my husband or I fall ill and truly need each other, or if I face any health issues myself, I will never hang up my boots. Let’s hope those circumstances never arise,” she expressed.
So, while her touring days may be behind her, Dolly Parton continues to bring joy and inspiration with her music and captivating performances. Amen to that, Dolly!
