2024 has been a year when we have lost many actors. We have now lost another who was known for the work that he did on M*A*S*H as well as the movie, Friday the 13th (Jason Lives).

Actor Whitney Rydbeck passed away earlier this week from complications associated with prostate cancer. He was in Chatsworth California and died at a hospice care facility at the age of 79.

A director who is also his friend, Tommy McLoughlin went on Instagram to share the sad news. He said: “We lost not only a truly funny comedian and actor…but one of the most good hearted human beings I’ve ever known. God Bless You and Rest in Peace. Whitney Rydbeck. Our Loss is Heavens’ Gain.”

Rydbeck was able to enjoy a career that spanned decades and started in the 70s. He appeared as a guest star on a number of television shows, including Star Trek: The Next Generation. He played chief engineer Argyle in the first season of that show and has been loved by fans of Star Trek since that time.

He also appeared on Murder, She Wrote, Scrubs, M*A*S*H, Knight Rider, The A-Team, and Dukes Of Hazard. His ability to adapt to those different roles was what made him so popular.

He also played in a variety of films, including The Nude Bomb and the Kentucky Fried Movie. He also starred as Larry the crash test dummy in a number of public safety announcements.
