There are some people who doubt if animals have the ability to show love. They know that we may get affection from the animals that are closest to us, but can they really show love for us or for others?
We were able to see the love that animals show in a very powerful way when it comes to a wolf-dog named Jacob. He was rescued from an abusive breeder and taken to a sanctuary, where he would find peace and safety.
Even though there was a safe place for Jacob, his desire to spend time outdoors was all too evident. He had physical and emotional scars from his upbringing and he was facing a challenge.
The house that he lived in offered shelter but he still wanted the freedom that can only be found outdoors. Eventually, he was moved with six other rescue wolf dogs and each of them had their own personality.
Since there were other wolf dogs present, there would be a lot of interaction and plenty of movement and noise. At first, Jacob may have found this to be somewhat traumatizing but eventually, he was able to socialize and form bonds with the other animals.
When the sanctuary owner saw a special bond forming between Jacob and his daughter, Ella, it was a beautiful thing to see. Jacob began to heal thanks to that bond and he began feeling more secure.
Eventually, the sanctuary’s owner got a call from another rescue in Ohio and they had news about Jacob’s brother, Varden. They were sending Varden to the sanctuary, and they hoped that Jacob would like having a familiar face.
When Varden was introduced to the sanctuary, it was a special moment for Jacob. They were able to reconnect and suddenly, some of the trauma from the past was being erased.
